We have been using Championship mallets for several seasons at Bygrave Croquet Club. This is what we think of them ..............

They are well made with hardwood rectangular heads 2.5" square and 9.5" long. The shaft is English Ash which gives a definite 'feel' through the shot. Very good stop shot ratio and easy to use for jump shots. The handle is octagonal which means that it is comfortable to grip and is naturally on the aiming line. The leather grip is comfortable, not too thick, and securely applied. Replacement grips are available. The weight is around 3lb which is ideal for use with standard balls which weigh 1lb. This mallet compares well to "club mallets" priced at 50% more so is very good value indeed. There is no composition end face to fall off and the construction and materials are sound and of good quality. There is a brass binding for strength which is rarely found nowadays. This is set back from the face of the mallet so that it doesn't come into contact with the ball. It is an ideal mallet for Garden Croquet or even a starter mallet in Croquet Clubs. It is available in two shaft lengths, 34" and 38". If you wanted a 36" shaft it would be to cut down a 38" shaft but you would need to doctor the adhesive leather grip to match.
